The Division of Education of Students with Intellectual Disabilities Program at Hacettepe University is an academic unit established to support the development and improve the quality of life of individuals affected by intellectual disabilities across all age groups, from early childhood to adulthood.
The Education of Students with Intellectual Disabilities Program aims to equip prospective teachers with deep expertise in the field of intellectual disabilities. Our program prepares students with evidence-based courses, technology-supported instructional practices, and comprehensive teaching experiences conducted in various educational settings, enabling them to address the educational needs of all individuals with intellectual disabilities across a broad spectrum.
Throughout the program, our students have the opportunity to gain field experience, develop individualized education programs, and personalize teaching processes. Thanks to strong academic guidance provided during fieldwork and practical experiences, they are thoroughly prepared as competent professionals in this specialty area. The Division also offers its students the chance to engage in close scientific research collaborations with faculty members, conduct clinical observations, and closely monitor the developmental processes of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The Education of Students with Intellectual Disabilities adopts as its core mission the support of individuals affected by intellectual disabilities and the preparation of expert teachers and researchers in this field. Future special education teachers here do not simply acquire a profession; they are also raised as leaders who make a difference for educational equity and social inclusion.
