The Intellectual Disabilities Education Division at Hacettepe University was established to support individuals affected by intellectual disabilities in reaching their developmental potential across all age groups, from early childhood to adulthood. Our program, which prepares teachers with specialized expertise in the field of intellectual disabilities, offers teacher candidates the opportunity to engage in evidence-based practices integrated with technology and comprehensive teaching experiences across various educational settings.

Our program equips students with strong knowledge bases and effective teaching practices that address the educational needs of all learners, from those with mild intellectual disabilities to those with severe intellectual disabilities and multiple disabilities. Through courses grounded in evidence-based knowledge, rich field experiences, and close guidance provided during practical training, our teacher candidates grow into exceptional educators capable of developing individualized education programs that meet the unique learning needs of all children and adapting instruction and developmental support accordingly.

Additionally, our students have the opportunity to work closely with faculty members on scientific research and to observe clinical assessments and developmental support practices.
